The Chobdar Haveli is located in a quiet lane next to the most famous and
historical monuments of Mandawa.
A lovely green lawn, bordered by flower beds, greets the visitor, giving the feel
of an oasis, which it is in every sense. Several steps lead up to a large,
impressive, metal-studded doorway leading into the building.
Built in 1900 Chobdar Haveli incorporates three archways that enclose a
central courtyard - the classical tibari style. The haveli is a pristine white, which
is a pleasing contrast to the sandstone yellow of the other buildings. The
overall white ambience is maintained through out the carefully maintained
interiors of the edifice.
The old-world ambience has been painstakingly and lovingly restored. Each room, of which there are ten, contains original furnishings and fixtures. The specially designed and handcrafted trappings create a distinctive mood for each room. Individually styled every room has a unique layout and is embellished with exquisite floral designs on the ceilings, floors and walls. Each room has a four- poster bed. But the feel of a royal and sumptuous era - is given a traditional touch by a mattress (gadda) and bolsters (masands) occupying a section of the room. The exquisite design and craftsmanship of the fittings and furniture have been created by well-known designer, sculptor and artist - Ram Ratan Sharma. Beautiful Rajasthani objets d'art, tastefully placed, complete the harmony and beauty of the rooms.
